Banner Description:

This banner honors programs that demonstrate readiness to respond to health emergencies by ensuring at least one staff member is certified in both CPR and First Aid. It reflects a commitment to physical safety and preparedness, offering parents reassurance that trained individuals are available to act swiftly in urgent situations.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be awarded the Verified CPR/First Aid banner, a program must meet all of the following:

1. At Least One Trained Staff Member
At least one adult staff member must have completed a CPR and First Aid training course, even if not formally certified.

Training may be completed in person or online and must cover:

  • Basic CPR (adult and child)

  • Choking response

  • First aid for minor injuries (e.g., cuts, bruises, burns)

  • Emergency response and calling 911

2. Documentation of Training Completion
The provider must maintain internal documentation that includes:

  • Name of trained individual(s)

  • Date of training

  • Training provider or course name (e.g., Red Cross video course, pediatric first aid workshop, etc.)

  • Expiration or review date, if applicable

3. Staff Awareness Plan
The program must have a written or verbal plan ensuring all staff know:

  • Who the trained CPR/First Aid person is

  • How to respond to emergencies

  • Where first aid kits or emergency supplies are located

4. Accessible First Aid Supplies
Basic first aid supplies must be easily accessible during program hours. This includes:

  • First aid kit

  • Emergency contact numbers

  • Any additional items relevant to the program’s setting (e.g., gloves, ice packs)

5. Annual Refresher or Review
The designated staff member must complete a refresher course or review the materials annually to ensure knowledge is up to date.

Note: ParentApproved.org may conduct audits to confirm requirements are met. Providers that do not meet the criteria during these audits may have their badge/banner suspended or revoked until compliance is restored.
