Badge Description:

Awarded to programs that celebrate artistic expression through music, theater, painting, dance, and storytelling — helping students explore creativity, emotion, and self-expression.

Eligibility Criteria:

To earn the Creative Arts & Expression Badge, providers must demonstrate a commitment to whole-child well-being through the following:

Required Components (Must meet all):

  • Arts-Based Instruction – Regular activities focused on visual, performing, or literary arts.

  • Creative Input – Students contribute ideas, expression, or interpretation—even within structured lessons.

  • Foundational Skills – Instruction includes basic technique or understanding of the art form.

  • Sharing or Showcase – Students share work through performances, exhibitions, or guided feedback.

  • Expression & Storytelling – Activities help students explore emotion, meaning, or personal voice through their art.

Suggested Qualifiers (At least 2 recommended):

  • Mixed Media or Visual Arts – Students explore different visual art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, or collage.

  • Music or Rhythm-Based Activities – Students engage in drumming, singing, instrumental practice, or sound exploration.

  • Theater, Drama, or Movement – Students participate in acting, storytelling, improv, or expressive movement.

  • Creative Writing or Poetry – Includes story-making, journaling, songwriting, or structured poetry writing.

  • Dance or Choreography – Programs that use movement and rhythm for creative expression.

  • Arts-Based Cultural Exploration – Introduces students to diverse cultural traditions through music, visual arts, or performance.

  • Student Art Portfolios or Journals – Ongoing collection of work, sketches, or reflections tracking their artistic journey.

  • Collaborative Art Projects – Students work together on group creations such as murals, performances, or co-authored stories that foster teamwork and collective creativity.
