FAQs for Parents

What is ParentApproved.org?

ParentApproved.org is a nonprofit platform that verifies safety, quality, and purpose in enrichment programs, tutoring services, and microschools.

Is this a paid directory?

No. Providers cannot pay to be listed. We do not accept commissions or placement fees. All listings are earned through our review process.

What does it mean for a program to be “verified”?

It means the provider has gone through our multi-step review process and met criteria in safety, staff qualifications, curriculum purpose, and family trust.

Does ParentApproved guarantee a good experience?

We don’t guarantee outcomes, but we do verify that providers meet trusted standards before being listed.

Are verified programs licensed or regulated by the state?

Not necessarily. Many enrichment programs are not required to be licensed, which is why our independent verification helps bring accountability.

What if I have a bad experience with a verified provider?

You can report it to us. We keep track of feedback and may follow up with providers to reassess their badge/banner status.

How do I know if a program is safe?

Look for the ParentApproved banners. Verified programs submit documentation for background checks, safety plans, and CPR/First Aid training.

Are homeschool programs included?

Yes! We verify microschools, co-ops, tutoring centers, and other out-of-school enrichment options.

Can I nominate a provider I like?

Yes! Visit our Nominate a Provider page to recommend a program you believe should be reviewed.

How much does it cost for parents to use this site?

Nothing. Our site is free for families looking for verified programs.

Why aren’t there any providers listed in the Verified Directory yet?

We’re currently reviewing applications and verifying documentation from several providers. Our goal is to launch the first round of verified listings in September 2025, ensuring that every provider meets our safety and quality standards before going live.

How do I know if a provider is in the application process?

While only fully verified providers will be listed in the directory, we may note on our site when a program is "In Review." You can also contact us to ask if a specific provider has started the process or been nominated.

FAQs for Providers

What is required to earn a badge?

Can I get help meeting the criteria?

Yes! We offer optional consulting and guidance for providers who want to improve and qualify for verification.

Is there a fee to apply?

Yes. A small application fee helps cover the cost of reviewing documentation and maintaining integrity. See Pricing for details.

What time period does verification cover?

All ParentApproved badges/banners are valid for one academic year, running from September 1 through August 31. Providers verified at any time during that cycle will be listed through the end of August, with renewal reminders sent out before the new school year begins.

Is the application fee prorated if I apply later in the year?

No. Our application fees are not prorated because each review requires the same level of time and effort, regardless of when you apply. As a nonprofit, we’ve worked to keep our pricing affordable while still covering the cost of a thorough and thoughtful review process.

How long does the verification process take?

Most reviews are completed within 1–2 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of the provider.
